Fault Lines.

The fault lines series is stimulated by conversations with my granddaughter who is a paleontologist with the Royal Tyrell Museum in Canada. Our conversations help me learn.

As this fault lines series develops the goal is to capture the underlying geological or metaphoric idea and then present it in an abstract painting. For example, the underlying idea of the painting Opposing Strata is the massive force produced by strata moving in opposing directions. The painting shows force and movement.

Some of my learning has been about tectonic plates and their impact on our world. As tectonic plates endlessly move alongside each other, the colliding rough edges are the cause of geologic events. The edges in the painting Tectonic Edges are presented as disruption.

The fault lines series includes thinking about the concept metaphorically. It could be fault lines in organizations or between people. The big idea is stress caused by difference. To think about that lightly, it could be one side blaming the other, thus the painting It’s All Your Fault.
